Destination Wedding in Portugal | Wedding Photographer at Mosteiro de Bustelo & Quinta de Cepeda
Photographing José and Cátia’s wedding was a truly meaningful experience and a perfect example of what a destination wedding in Portugal can feel like: intimate, emotional and beautifully authentic. As a wedding photographer in Portugal, I have the privilege of documenting love stories from couples who value real moments and a natural approach to photography.
The ceremony took place at the stunning Mosteiro de Bustelo, in Penafiel, a historic monastery filled with character, elegance and a strong sense of place. The couple chose not to have a traditional getting-ready coverage, allowing the focus to remain entirely on the ceremony and the emotions shared throughout the day. From the very beginning, my approach was discreet and observant, capturing moments as they unfolded naturally.
Following the ceremony, the celebration continued at Quinta de Cepeda, in Paredes, a beautiful wedding venue surrounded by gardens and natural light. The atmosphere was relaxed, joyful and deeply emotional. This wedding was full of spontaneous moments, genuine reactions and heartfelt connections between the couple and their guests.
My work as a documentary wedding photographer in Portugal is centred on storytelling. I aim to create honest and timeless wedding photographs that reflect how the day truly felt, rather than how it was staged. Throughout the celebration, I focused on capturing laughter, tears, embraces and all the subtle details that make each wedding unique.
In the late afternoon, we took some quiet time for an intimate couple session in the gardens of Quinta de Cepeda. The soft light, the calm surroundings and the natural connection between José and Cátia created the perfect setting for relaxed and emotional portraits. These moments allowed them to slow down and simply be together, while I documented their connection in a natural and unobtrusive way.
